Ronda · Puente Nuevo

Eating at the end of Puente Nuevo, on the old-town side

La Pilastra is at the old-town end of Puente Nuevo, where Calle Armiñán begins, beside Mirador de Aldehuela. From Plaza de España you walk across the bridge and you are a few steps away; coming from the old town, you reach it just as you get to the bridge.

Which side of the bridge are you on?

Puente Nuevo links the two halves of Ronda: El Mercadillo, with Plaza de España and the bullring, and La Ciudad, the historic quarter. La Pilastra is on the La Ciudad side, at number 1 Calle Armiñán, the street that starts where the bridge ends.

From Plaza de España, walk across the bridge: as you step into La Ciudad you are on Calle Armiñán, a few steps from the door. If you are already exploring the old town, head down Calle Armiñán towards the bridge and you will find us as you reach it. Driving, or arriving by train or bus? Full directions are in getting here.

Before or after seeing the bridge

From the top of Puente Nuevo you look down into the gorge, but to see the bridge itself you need to step away from it: to the viewpoints along the edge and the paths that drop towards the bottom of the Tajo. The viewpoints walk and our Puente Nuevo guide show where to stand for the full view and tell its story.

A good order is to do the viewpoints first and then sit down, unhurried, a few steps from where you finish. If you reach Ronda right at lunchtime, flip it round: eat on arrival and keep the afternoon for the bridge and the old town.

A quick stop or a proper meal

It does not have to be a long lunch: a few plates to share make an easy break between sights, and the menu also covers a full meal with a starter, main and dessert. If you would also like a table overlooking the gorge, read how the terrace works before you book.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car to get there from the bullring?

No. From the bullring it is a short walk: through Plaza de España, across Puente Nuevo, and the restaurant is at the far end of the bridge.

Can you see Puente Nuevo from the restaurant?

It depends on the table. The terrace overlooks the gorge; if you want the bridge in view, ask when you book.
