Oxtail croquettes (croquetas de rabo de toro)
Oxtail croquettes are one of La Pilastra’s specials: they are served when available, so they are not always on. If they are off, the homemade croquette selection on the main menu is the year-round sharing option, and the Ronda-style oxtail stew gives you the same flavour as a main course.

A special, not a fixed dish
Specials are dishes the kitchen prepares outside the regular menu, and they can change from one day to the next. If you are coming with these croquettes in mind, ask about them when you book or as soon as you sit down.
As with the other specials, ask the team about allergens on the day. If anyone at your table has an allergy, mention it before ordering; allergens and gluten-free explains how to use the information on the menu.

How they fit into a meal
A croquette made from the stew is an easy way to try oxtail without ordering a whole plate: a couple of bites to open the table before the mains.
If there are several of you, pair them with another sharing plate and follow with a main; tapas and sharing plates has ideas for putting a table like that together.
If they are off that day
The homemade croquette selection is always on the menu, with four fillings: stew, porcini, prawn and spinach. If it is the flavour of the stew you are after, the Ronda-style oxtail comes as a main course with fries.
The other specials and all the regular dishes are on the menu.
