Allergens and gluten-free choices at La Pilastra

La Pilastra’s menu lists the 14 allergens that must be declared, dish by dish, and its filter highlights the dishes containing the one you choose. A dish with no gluten declared is not guaranteed free of traces, so if you are looking for gluten-free food because of coeliac disease or an allergy, tell us when you book and again when you order.

How to check allergens on the menu

Open the full menu and choose the allergen you need to avoid: dishes that contain it are highlighted rather than hidden, so you still see everything on offer. Each dish also shows its declared allergens.

The day’s suggestions do not always have this information on the menu. When they do not, you will see a note to ask the team, which is what you should do before ordering them.

What «no gluten declared» means

It means that, according to the menu information, the recipe has no ingredients containing gluten. It does not mean La Pilastra is a gluten-free kitchen: flour, bread, pasta and dough are used, and traces cannot be ruled out.

Ask too about what the description does not show, such as sauces, sides, or whether a fried dish shares oil with battered or breaded food.

Cross-contamination: talk to the team

If you have coeliac disease or a serious allergy, say so when you book and repeat it when you order. The team will tell you what they can and cannot ensure for each dish, so you can decide according to how sensitive you are.

If you are coming with others, say how many people have allergies or intolerances and which ones; for a group booking it is especially helpful to know in advance.

At the table

  1. Check the menu on the day of your visit: dishes and suggestions can change.
  2. If you are sharing plates, keep aside what you cannot eat and ask for separate cutlery.
  3. For meat- and fish-free choices, see our vegetarian options too.
